I grew up near the ocean in Japan and have always liked snorkeling, sailing and undersea creatures.

Because of COVID, our long-awaited vacation was cancelled and our lives were very limited.  I wanted more and more to imagine somewhere I would like to be and turtles were my pets when I was little.  I read many articles about sea turtles and coral and how their habitats are endangered.  It especially affected me to see images of sea turtles with plastic bags, nets, and plastic rings from soda cans around their necks.

I hope you smile when you see my Endangered Habitats Series.  We can all do small things to save these beautiful habitats such as picking up trash, removing ear loops when we dispose disposable face masks, cutting plastic 6-pack rings for beverage cans, etc.  It’s not too late to start doing these things!
